The short answer
As of 2026-10-16, the Ushi No Tane preview page states that walkthrough and guide page work has started and points readers to its site map in the meantime, so there is no complete, step-by-step route through the whole game posted there yet. What exists right now is the story framework and the early-game systems, not a numbered path from start to credits.
That is still enough to start well. Below is what the community preview reports, organised around the decisions you actually make in your first several hours.

The story spine you're working through
Your character is a youth from Bloomfield Village who teams up with the Harvest Goddess. A mist has crept out from the Forest of Echoes, and the world has been suffering ever since — ocean storms, dangerous wildlife, and disasters hitting towns across the land. The goal is to find out what happened to the four guardian spirits of Teradea.
The four regions and their problems, as Ushi No Tane describes them:
- Bloomfield Village — your home. Wild wolves roam the outskirts at night, and a massive pack leader keeps townsfolk inside after dark.
- Tidewind — an oceanside port ravaged by storms.
- Quarrytop Village — residents are stressed by earthquakes.
- Maplehill Town — a musical town that has lost its sense of community.
The guardians are tied to the four seasons, and each seems to be associated with a Spirit Tree: the wolf Lupo (Spring), Harvest Sprite Nera (Summer), Harvest Sprite Menus (Fall), and the underworld king Gorgon (Winter). Media shown so far includes Bloomfield's Spring Spirit Tree standing bare, which the community reads as something you'll need to restore. Treat the season mapping as the community's working interpretation rather than a confirmed order of play — the preview page does not lay out a sequence of objectives.
What actually gates your early progress
These are the systems most likely to stall a new player.
Stamina and night travel. Wild animals can attack you in Teradea, unlike in Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos, where they ran away. If an animal depletes your stamina, you faint and return to your farm. Wandering far from town at night early on is the fastest way to lose a day.
Field soil health. Each town has its own farm space. Soil health drops when you overuse a field, and it comes back either through fertilizer or by letting the ground go fallow for a while. Rotating fields and resting them is cheaper than fighting depleted soil later.
Crop mutations. Crops can mutate into new varieties depending on where you plant them, so location matters as much as seed choice.
Inventory upgrades. Golden Wisps return, but they work differently than in Anthos. Instead of floating in the open, they are hidden inside Power Statues — the small goddess statues that served as fast-travel points in Anthos. Each statue holds a puzzle, and solving it rewards you with the wisp's power fruit. Ushi No Tane notes the total number of these statues is unknown, and asks whether it will match Anthos's roughly 100 or be scaled back.
Traversal tools. Climbing to higher areas is new here, along with ladders and vines leading to cliffs and hidden areas containing treasure chests. You can also jump down from heights rather than walking the long way back, which Anthos did not allow. A rideable mount is needed to clear large crevasses and reach areas you otherwise can't.
The Happilia gauge. Happilia is a new progress meter. Ushi No Tane describes it as assumed to be similar to Happiness from Harvest Moon: Home Sweet Home, where daily actions like shipping and gift-giving earned points that fed into story progress. The preview page notes that how Teradea's version is used has not been highlighted, so don't plan your play around it.

Marriage, and when it unlocks
There are five bachelors and five bachelorettes, and you can marry any candidate regardless of your protagonist's gender.
- Bloomfield Village — Robert and Carol, the two protagonists. Whoever you don't pick becomes a marriage candidate. Also Jane, a teacher who wants to visit the university libraries in Maplehill.
- Tidewind — Aaron, who stepped in to help his mother after his father vanished in a storm at sea; and Mara, the head boatman's daughter who wants to be the world's best sailor.
- Maplehill Town — Bryce, from a high-status family pushing to let new culture into the traditional town; Shirley, who wants to bring music to the town's stage; and Sergei, an inventor researching phenomena like the Forest of Echoes mist.
- Quarrytop Village — Hank, a treasure hunter who wandered in and never left; and Lorelei, who runs the mining guild with her grandfather.
Two practical points: you cannot marry until the main story concludes, and while there are ten candidates listed, only nine are actually marriable, since the protagonist you play as can't marry themselves.
Platform and version notes
The official Steam page lists a release date of Oct 14, 2026, a $49.99 price, single-player with Steam Achievements (48 of them), Steam Cloud, and Family Sharing. It lists a controller as required and notes Xbox and PlayStation controller support, and the game is marked Steam Deck Verified. The same page shows a Mixed rating from 20 user reviews, 45% positive, as of 2026-10-16 — worth knowing if you're deciding whether to buy now.
Ushi No Tane's preview page lists the game for Nintendo Switch 1 and Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Steam, and Xbox Series S/X, with a North American release date of October 15, 2026, and states that the game was moved from an originally planned September 24 date. As of 2026-10-16, that same Ushi No Tane page lists no Japanese release date. If you're playing the Switch 2 physical version, the community page notes the cartridge is the Switch 1 version plus a Switch 2 upgrade, not a digital key card.
Natsume has DLC planned in both free and paid form, with Ushi No Tane describing an intent to stagger a year's worth of content into 2027. On Steam, the free Mooberry Cow Pack is offered as a gift with purchase between 10/15/2026 and 11/11/2026.
If something isn't working
General checks rather than confirmed fixes, since a game this new has a thin troubleshooting record:
- If your inputs aren't registering on the Steam version, start with your controller. The Steam page lists a controller as required, so a keyboard-only setup may simply not be supported.
- On PC, the usual first steps apply: verify your game files through Steam, update your graphics driver, and compare your machine against the listed minimums (Windows 11 64-bit, 16 GB RAM, GTX 1650-class graphics, 8 GB storage).
- Performance problems in an open-world game of this type are often settings-related, so try lowering graphics options before assuming a bug.
Where to follow the walkthrough as it develops
Ushi No Tane's preview page is the main community hub tracking this game, and it's where the walkthrough pages are being built out. The official Steam page is the place to confirm release and platform details as they change.
