Approaching the Guardian of Wolf Hill in Echoes of Teradea
How to reach Lupo, the wolf spirit guardian of Wolf Hill in Bloomfield: hot milk, a horse for the blocked path, and what to expect.

Table of Contents
The guardian of Wolf Hill is Lupo, a wolf spirit, and the way you approach him during the Bloomfield chapter is a delivery run: you carry a bottle of hot milk up to him. You also need a horse to get past a blocked stretch of the route — the path to Wolf Hill is not walkable on foot at that point in the story.
That sequence comes from Natsume's hands-off gameplay presentation covered by The Outerhaven's preview, published 2026-09-17. It was a pre-release demo, so treat the order of steps as the intended shape of the quest rather than a fixed walkthrough of the shipped build.
What you need before you set out
- A bottle of hot milk. This is the item the Wolf Hill objective is built around; the demo goal was simply to deliver it to the guardian.
- A horse. The demo player needed one to cross a certain area before the milk could be taken to Lupo. Natsume explained that obstacles like this gate parts of a region until you have upgraded items or the right animal with you, so a horse is the intended traversal tool here rather than an optional shortcut.
- A mount you can call. Horses, reindeer and camels can be assigned to your mount whistle, which is how you get a rideable animal to you while out in the field.

Why the hill is gated
Teradea is an open world with regions that open up gradually. Bloomfield is the forested starting area and the one where this guardian errand takes place, and Wolf Hill sits inside it. Because traversal obstacles are a deliberate part of the design, running into a spot you can't cross usually means you're missing the required animal or an upgraded tool — not that you've gone the wrong way.
Wolves, and approaching animals in general
Wolves start appearing around Bloomfield at night, and the region's wider mystery involves a large guardian wolf said to rule them. Wild animals are a hazard as well as a feature: Natsume's feature list mentions evading wolves, bears and tigers, and getting caught can cost you collected items and send you back to your farm. If you're travelling to Wolf Hill after dark, going mounted and keeping moving is the safer habit.
Companions are the other half of that system. Smaller pets can follow you and provide buffs, and the demo showed a Bernese Dog calming animals down so they are easier to approach. Wild animals can also be tamed by interacting with them and building up their affinity, so a failed approach isn't necessarily permanent.

If the milk delivery won't trigger
These are general suggestions rather than confirmed fixes: make sure the milk is actually in your inventory and not stored or sold, check that you're mounted when you hit the blocked section, and try approaching in daylight if night-time wolf activity is interrupting you. As of 2026-10-16, the official Steam page for Harvest Moon: Echoes of Teradea does not spell out the Wolf Hill delivery, so player reports and preview coverage remain the practical reference for this quest. The same page lists the release as Oct 14, 2026, notes "Controller Required", and marks the game Steam Deck Verified.
Once Lupo is dealt with, the story pushes you onward to the other troubled regions — Tidewind on the coast, Quarrytop in the mountains, and the fading town of Maplehill — each with its own guardian spirit to reach.
