Harvest Moon: Echoes of Teradea has ten marriage candidates — five bachelors and five bachelorettes — spread across its four towns. You can court any of them regardless of your protagonist's gender. One slot, however, is filled by whichever of the two starting protagonists you didn't pick, so a given save file gives you nine people to choose between rather than ten.

Ushi No Tane's preview page describes the group as five bachelors and five bachelorettes, and the names line up as Robert, Aaron, Bryce, Sergei and Hank on the bachelor side and Carol, Jane, Mara, Shirley and Lorelei on the bachelorette side. The same page notes, with some amusement, that Sergei fills the role of the eligible inventor after Doc Jr. again missed out on being a candidate.

The protagonist swap

Robert and Carol are the two characters offered during game setup. Whoever you don't choose joins the marriage pool as a childhood-friend candidate. That mirrors Harvest Moon: Home Sweet Home, where the same setup applied. Practically speaking, the choice you make at character creation changes who is romanceable: pick Carol and Robert is available, pick Robert and Carol is available.

Same-gender marriage

Gender isn't a restriction. The preview page states plainly that players can marry any one of the candidates regardless of the gender of their protagonist, so there are no separate "bachelor" and "bachelorette" routes to worry about.

When marriage unlocks

As in the previous games in the series, you can't marry until the main story has concluded. Expect to spend a full playthrough on the guardians, the mist and the four towns before any wedding becomes available, and treat courting as something you build toward in parallel.

What isn't spelled out yet

As of 2026-10-16, Ushi No Tane's preview page does not list favourite gifts, heart-event requirements or courtship thresholds for the individual candidates. If a candidate's progress feels stuck, the usual Harvest Moon habits are a reasonable starting point — talk to them daily, give gifts, and keep pushing the main story — but those habits are general series experience rather than confirmed Teradea mechanics, and the preview page doesn't verify them.

Versions and timing

Ushi No Tane's preview page lists the game for Nintendo Switch 1 and Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Steam and Xbox Series S/X, with a North American release of October 15, 2026, pushed back from an originally planned September 24. The official Steam page gives a release date of October 14, 2026. Candidate lists and unlock rules are the kind of thing that can shift between a preview build and a finished release, so double-check names in your own copy if something doesn't match.
